• AI companion features (Ezra) for writing assistance, insights, and emotional support
• Weekly journal analysis and mood pattern recognition
• Voice-to-text journaling capabilities
• Data export and import capabilities (CSV format)
• Customization options for fonts, themes, and journaling experience
• Calendar view and swipe navigation

3. Subscription Plans and Billing

Free Tier

• Basic journaling functionality with local storage
• Limited AI interactions (gift tokens provided initially)
• Export/import capabilities
• Core customization features

MAX Tier (Premium)

• Unlimited AI chat with Ezra companion
• Unlimited weekly insights and analysis
• Advanced mood pattern recognition
• Unlimited voice-to-text features
• Priority customer support

Pricing and Payment

• Subscription Options: Monthly and annual plans available
• Pricing: Current pricing is displayed in the app and varies by region
• Payment Processing: All payments processed through App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)
• Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
• Free Trials: Trial periods may be offered at our discretion

4. Privacy and Data Protection

Your journal entries are stored locally on your device. When you use AI features, relevant content is processed through our secure backend using Google Gemini API. Please review our Privacy Policy for complete details about data handling, third-party services, and your privacy rights.

5. User Responsibilities and Acceptable Use

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your device and any data stored within the App
• Creating backups of your journal entries if desired (via export features)
• Using the App in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
• Not using AI features for harmful, illegal, or inappropriate content generation
• Understanding that deleting the App will permanently remove all stored data
• Managing your subscription and understanding billing terms
• Not attempting to circumvent usage quotas or subscription limitations

6. Subscription Management and Billing

Subscription Terms

• Subscriptions are managed through RevenueCat and your respective app store
• Billing is handled entirely by App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
• You can cancel at any time through your app store account settings

Usage Quotas and Token System

• AI features are limited by a token-based quota system
• Free users receive initial gift tokens with daily/monthly limits
• MAX subscribers have generous monthly token allowances (typically sufficient for extensive daily use)
• Additional tokens may be available upon request for users with exceptional needs
• Usage is tracked to enforce subscription tier limitations and prevent abuse

Refunds and Cancellation

• All refunds are handled directly through your app store (Apple or Google)
• Refund eligibility is subject to app store policies
• Cancelled subscriptions remain active until the end of the billing period
• No partial refunds for unused portions of subscription periods

7. Intellectual Property

The Dear Journal application, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by the developer. Your journal content remains your intellectual property. We claim no ownership over your personal writings or entries.

8. AI Features and Limitations

Dear Journal includes AI-powered features (Ezra companion) powered by Google Gemini API. Please note:

• Not Professional Advice: AI responses are for journaling assistance and emotional support, not professional medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice
• Accuracy Limitations: AI responses are generated algorithmically and may not always be accurate or appropriate
• Data Processing: AI interactions require sending journal content to Google Gemini API for processing
• Usage Limits: AI features are subject to subscription tier limitations and quotas
• Availability: AI features depend on third-party services and may be temporarily unavailable
• Content Responsibility: You are responsible for how you use and interpret AI-generated content

7. Disclaimers and Limitations

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees about:

• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Data recovery in case of device failure or app deletion
• Compatibility with all devices or operating system versions
• The accuracy or completeness of any AI-generated content

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Dear Journal, including but not limited to loss of data, personal information, or journal entries.

9. App Store Compliance

Dear Journal is distributed through official app stores (Apple App Store, etc.). Your use of the App is also subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant app store platform.

10. Updates and Changes

We reserve the right to:

• Update the App with new features, improvements, or bug fixes
• Modify these Terms with reasonable notice through app updates
• Discontinue certain features or the App entirely, though we will provide reasonable notice when possible

11. Age Requirements

Dear Journal is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. Users under 18 should have parental consent before using the App. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

12. Termination

You may stop using Dear Journal at any time by deleting the App from your device. These Terms will remain in effect regarding any prior use of the App.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable local laws. Any disputes will be resolved through appropriate legal channels in the jurisdiction where the developer resides.
